FSSAI Registration Or License

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) registration/license/certificate is mandatory for the business involved in the manufacture, distribution, and transportation of food products. It is a 14-digit registration/license number that must be printed on food packages.

Types of FSSAI Registrations/License

The following services for compliance with VAT (Value Added Tax) and CST (Central Sales Tax):

• FSSAI Basic Registration: This FSSAI registration is required for small businesses or startups like petty food manufacturers and the small-sized manufacturers, storage units, transporters, retailers, marketers, distributors, etc who have an annual turnover below Rs.12 lakhs. The Basic registration can be upgraded to a State license as your sales graph increases.
• FSSAI State License: This registration/license is applicable to mid-sized companies like small to medium-sized manufacturers, storage units, transporters, retailers, marketers, distributors who have annual turnover between Rs.12-20 crores. This license is issued by the State Government and it is mandatory that you operate in only 1 state, in order to obtain the State license.
• FSSAI Central License: This registration/license is applicable for large businesses like Importers, 100% Export Oriented Units, large manufacturers, operators in the Central Government agencies, airports, seaports, etc with annual turnover above Rs.20 crores. This is issued by the Central Government.

Documents required for FSSAI License

  • Copy of Identity Proof like Voter ID Card, PAN Card, Driving License, Passport, Aadhar Card, Ration Card, Senior Citizen Card, Department Issued ID.
  • Supporting Document (if any ): NOC by Municipality / Panchayat. Health NOC.
