IEC Import Export Code Registration

A business entity is required to have an Import and Export Code for Import and exports of goods and services in India. Import Export Code (IEC) is issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade( DGFT) and is the same as the PAN Number of the entity. Custom Clearance, payment of customs duty on imports, and Export of goods are done through Import Export Code.

IEC Code is issued for a lifetime; it means that it doesn’t have any expiry. In short, any entity that has IE code doesn’t have to renew its license because it has lifetime validity. And there is no need to file any return.
